MAROCK
In this post, I wanted to introduce to you one of my favorite movie, Marock, released in 2005 and directed by Laila Marrakchi. The movie's title is a mix between the French name of Morocco, Maroc, and Rock, as in 'Rock'n Roll'. It is the story of young jet set Moroccans enjoying the life where two lovers, Rita, a muslim girl, and Yourri, a jewish guy were dealing with their impossible love because of their respective religion. Marock is a movie where hypocritical religion, arranged-weedings, and the Judeo-Arab rivalry were one of the principal subject of the movie.
I found this movie emotional, real, and true. The young comedians were exceptional in this movie, where we can see the real acting abilities. Marock remembered me my last summers in Morocco with my friends and my origins. We can travel and visit Morocco through this movie, where must of the scenes where filmed in the economic city in Morocco, Casablanca. The soundtrack was amazing, the music was perfectly chosen with the scenes, the actors, and the context. I suggested you to listen to it. I watched this movie at least 5 times and each time, I discovered the movie in an other way and still crying at then end!
1 - Snap - I've Got The power
2 - The Auteurs - Junk shop clothes
3 - David Bowie - Rock'n'roll suicide
4 - Tahiti 80 - Open book
5 - Joy Zipper - Dosed and became invisible
6 - Ronnie Bird - Sad soul
7 - Grand National - Drink to moving on
8 - Peaches & herb - Shake your groove thing
9 - Army of lovers - Crucified
10 - One-two - The end of your song
11 - Marechal Kibbo - Taarida
12 - Dafataigazz - Ordinary man
13 - One-two - You and I
Sad moroccan reality but artistic and fun movie, enjoy !
